2009 Missions

P6170039

Reaching our community, nation, and world has become one of our biggest priorities here within the student ministry.  We want to be a blessing to all we encounter.  One of the best ways to show the love of Jesus is by serving others.  Last summer during our "Summer Surge" we had a mission project every Thursday afternoon from 1-4pm.   We would meet at the church then go to different places doing whatever  we could to help those in need.  Here is a list of a few of the places we went:

Broad Street Ministries www.bsmcaugusta.org
Miracle Making Ministries www.miraclemakingministries.com
Southeastern Firefighter's Burn Foundation www.theburncenter.org/burnretreat.htm
Golden Harvest Food Bank www.goldenharvest.org
Golden Harvest-The Master's Table Soup Kitchen www.goldenharvest.org/the-masters-table
Autumn Adult Day Care Center 706-863-9888

We also mowed the lawn's and manicured the yards of two of our elderly church members for the entire summer while the students were out of school.

2010 Missions

During the June of 2010 we were able to take Middle school, High school, and College students to New Orleans, LA!  We were teamed up with First Baptist Church Chalmette for the first couple of days of the week and then again on Thursday night as we hosted a Block Party for one of the neighorhoods in the area.  We also were able to strip and paint a house of a family whose home had been damaged by Katrina.  We helped paint two schools and also did various mission projects while we were there!  It was a definitely an eye-opening experience!  Some of the hurricane stories we heard were incredible and some of the people unforgetable.  Behind it all we could see the work of God in every situation!  What a privilege to serve such an awesome God!

Mission projects for the summer of 2010 were very successful again this year and God answered our prayer of wanting to extend our outreach to the community.

We were able to be involved with the Golden Harvest Food Bank consistently over the summer serving at their warehouse and the Master's Table Soup Kitchen.  We were also consistently involved with Broad Street Ministries, Miracle Making Ministries, the Autumn Adult Day Care Center as well as being able to assist a little bit with the Ronald McDonald House.

It is always a pleasure to get to serve and assist the senior adults of our church family.  This summer we were able to mow more yards, and visit with more senior adults than last summer!!  Praise the Lord and it is our prayer that next summer the mission work increases even more!!!!

We are planning on having mission projects throughout the school year to keep a strong heart beat amongst our students for being the hands and feet of Jesus!  Be praying as we seek for more opportunities to serve!!!
